Against the scored applicants

The Against the scored applicants card on a Risenoow candidate record puts this person's overall match beside everyone else scored for the same role. A score of 72 means little on its own; 72 when the rest of the field is in the fifties is a different candidate entirely. This chart gives the number its context.

Where: Candidate record, Overview tab, beside Interview profile

Who can use it: Admins, and recruiters for the roles they created

Time needed: Under a minute

The Risenoow Against the 30 scored applicants chart, with this candidate's bar highlighted at 95, dashed lines for Your shortlist bar 85 and Average 72, and four figures underneath
Clara Barker's 95 is the highlighted bar on the left, ahead of the shortlist bar of 85 and the average of 72.

What the bars show

Each bar is one applicant for this role who has an overall match score, sorted from highest on the left to lowest on the right. The scale runs from 0 to 100.

  • This candidate is the one coloured bar. Everyone else is grey, so your eye goes straight to the person you are reading.
  • Hover over any bar to see that applicant's name and score. The candidate you are reading is marked "this candidate".

The card title says how many applicants have a score, for example "Against the 30 scored applicants". Applicants still waiting for a score are not counted, and applicants for other roles are never mixed in.

On a role with more than 200 scored applicants, the card says Chart shows the top 200. The chart draws the 200 highest scores, and adds this candidate as the last bar when their score is lower. The average, the shortlist bar and the rank still cover every scored applicant for the role.

The two dashed lines

Line What it is
Average (grey) The average overall match of every scored applicant for this role, this candidate included. Its label shows the number, such as "Average 72".
Your shortlist bar (teal) The lowest score your team has actually shortlisted for this role. Its label shows the number, such as "Your shortlist bar 85". In the legend it is called "Lowest score you shortlisted".

The shortlist bar is not a number Risenoow picks for you. It is the bar your team has been setting in practice. Until someone is shortlisted for the role there is no such line, and it is left out of the chart, the legend and the figures.

Good to know

If the shortlist bar sits far below the average, your team may be shortlisting on something the score does not see, such as availability or location. That is fine, and worth knowing when you compare new applicants.

The four figures underneath

Figure Meaning
This candidate Their overall match, for example 95
Average The average for the role, rounded, for example 72
Shortlist bar The lowest score shortlisted so far, for example 85 (only when someone is shortlisted)
of 30 Their rank among every scored applicant for the role, for example 1st of 30

The rank is the same one shown on the Overall match tile and in the page subtitle, such as "1st of 30 scored applicants for this role". Applicants with the same score are ranked by who applied first.

When there is nothing to compare against

A comparison needs at least two scored applicants. Until then the card is titled Against the other applicants and says: "Nobody else has been scored for this role yet, so there is nothing to compare against. This fills in as applications arrive."

How to use the chart

  1. Find the coloured bar. Is it left of most grey bars, or in the middle of the pack?
  2. Compare it with Your shortlist bar. Above it means this candidate scores at least as well as someone you already moved forward.
  3. Read the figures for the exact numbers and rank.
  4. Before deciding, open Dimension by dimension and the claim checks to see what the score rests on.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the shortlist bar lower than some people I declined?

It is the lowest score among people currently shortlisted, whatever their reasons. People you declined are still in the field as grey bars. The bar only shows the lowest score you have shortlisted, not the highest you have turned down.

Does the average include the candidate I am reading?

Yes. The bar chart average covers every scored applicant for the role. The dashed line on the Interview profile radar is different: it leaves the candidate out.

Why is a recent applicant missing from the chart?

Their written report has not given a score yet, or they supplied too little to score. They appear once they have a number.

Does this chart compare CV fit?

No. It compares the overall match only. CV fit has its own rank on the CV fit tile and the CV against this role card.
