Browsers and devices

Risenoow runs in your web browser, with nothing to install. To take the AI voice interview, a candidate needs a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, a secure connection and a microphone. Some technical interviews also need a camera. Employers need only a current browser.

Where: Any device with a current browser

Who it is for: Candidates taking an interview, and employers

Time needed: A minute to check your setup

The Start your application card in Risenoow, where a candidate enters their name, email and CV before the interview
An application starts in the browser. No app or download is needed.

Browsers

Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. If a browser cannot open a microphone or hold a voice conversation, the page says so, for example "This browser cannot open a microphone. Try a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox."

Keep the browser up to date. Old versions are the most common reason the interview will not start.

A secure connection

Browsers only allow a page to use your microphone over a secure connection, where the address starts with https. Risenoow links always use one. If you open a page another way, the interview stops before it starts with a message asking you to open the secure address instead.

Microphone (every voice interview)

The voice interview needs a working microphone and your permission to use it.

  • When your browser asks, choose Allow.
  • If you said no by mistake, open the padlock beside the address bar, allow the microphone, then reload the page.
  • Close other apps or tabs that might be using the microphone, such as a video call.

The sound check

Before the interview begins, Risenoow runs a short sound check. You play a line in the interviewer's voice, then say a few words after the tone so we know your microphone reaches us. You can pick a different microphone from the list if the first one does not work. Start the interview stays unavailable until both steps are done. If the role makes the voice interview optional, Continue without voice is also offered.

Camera (some technical interviews)

The second stage technical interview tells you up front what it needs:

What you see What it means
Camera on The employer has asked for the camera to stay on for the whole interview.
Camera optional You can keep your camera on or off. Audio is recorded either way.
No camera A voice conversation only. Your camera is not used or recorded.

The step Check your camera and sound takes about a minute. Allow camera and microphone access when the browser asks, and pick the right devices from the Camera and Microphone lists. Your background is blurred during the interview.

When you start, the interview opens in a new tab and the check page turns your camera and microphone off so the interview can use them. For a booked time, the interview opens ten minutes before it starts.

Phones, tablets and computers

  • Applying and the voice interview work on phones, tablets and computers. On a small screen, the transcript sits in a panel you open and close.
  • A quiet place and a steady connection matter more than the device. If the interviewer cannot hear clear answers, the interview pauses and asks you to move somewhere quiet and try again.
  • Employers use the workspace in the browser on any device.

Display and comfort

  • Light and dark themes. Use the moon or sun button at the top of the page to switch. Your choice is remembered.
  • Reduced motion. If your device asks apps to reduce motion, Risenoow turns its animations down.
  • Keyboard. Every part of the product can be used from the keyboard. See Keyboard shortcuts.
